.: About Me :.
I was born in 1974 and grew up in Redford. I graduated from Redford Union HS in 1992, and immediately started taking classes at Oakland Community College. I ended up taking all the Math and Physics classes I could get my hands on. I had a knack for troubleshooting and problems solving from the get go. I also learned early on I had a passion for helping people and teaching. I worked part-time as a math tutor at the college while taking classes, working at a machine shop, and delivering pizzas. I ended up with an associates degree in pre-engineering, and then transferred to the University of Michigan and began taking classes towards a bachelor's of mechanical engineering. About that time I got a job as a mechanical engineer at a small machine shop in Wixom. It was there I decided that mechanical engineering wasn't what I wanted.
After a bit of self-discovery I found an affinity towards computers. I took a couple Microsoft classes, and eventually got certified by Microsoft. Then I got a temp job working as a technical consultant for a small firm in Warren. This then led me to a Systems Administrator position in an Oracle consulting firm in Farmington. This turned out to be a very satisfying job and a wealth of good experiences. I got to help people, solve problems, work with technology, and build relationships with many of my clients. Unfortunately with Michigan's economy, I ended up as many others with a lay-off. After much searching, I decided it was time for another career change. Although, I still support many of my former clients, and have sustained my own small business.
With the fluctuating economy of Michigan, I knew I needed something more stable than self-employment. A career in heath and wellness seemed to be a reasonable solution. I decided to take a short course for EMT-Basic at Huron Valley Center for EMS Education. As it turns out, I get an equal amount of satisfaction out out helping people with their medical problems as with their technical ones. I am now a certified and licenced EMT and pursuing the higher level of Paramedic.
I am now hoping to balance my time supporting my technical clients, spending time working on in an abulatory service, and completeing my educational goals.
